What changes when you cross the border

A travel aid, not legal advice

Last updated 3 August 2026

What this site is

This site summarises driving rules to help you prepare for a trip. It is not legal advice, and it is not an official source. The official sources are the governments and authorities we link next to every value.

Rules change

Every value shows the date we last checked it against an official source. Laws change between our checks. A value we have not checked recently carries a yellow warning mark. Where we do not know a value, we say so instead of guessing.

The road wins

Signs on the road, road markings, and instructions from police and officials always take priority over anything written here. Local rules can differ from national ones. When this site and the road disagree, follow the road.

Our responsibility

We work carefully: every value cites an official source and the date it was checked. Even so, we cannot promise the information is complete, current or correct, and we are not responsible for what happens if you rely on it instead of the official sources and the road in front of you.

Found a mistake?

Tell us and we will check it against the official source and fix it. A contact method will be published here before launch.
